Robbers blast Metro Peech safe in US$25k heist

KWEKWE-Robbers pounced on Metro Peach Wholesale in Kwekwe on Thursday (July 25), blasted a safe and took away US$23 010, ZIG21 840 and R24 320.
The well-executed armed robbery took place around midnight.
According to the Police, two security guards on duty were overpowered by a group of six unknown suspects, who forcefully gained entry into the premises.
The intruders, armed with a gun, disabled the alarm systems and switched off the lights before tying up the guards in the guard room.
They then proceeded to break into the shop, blasting open the safe with explosives and making off with US$23 010, ZIG21 840 and R24 320 in cash.
Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident, stating that the authorities have launched a full-scale investigation and manhunt for the robbers.
However, no arrests have been made yet, and nothing has been recovered.
The police are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
