Pathfinder Volleyball Academy on the rise, inspiring young athletes

GWERU- Pathfinder Volleyball Academy from Gweru is rapidly gaining recognition for its outstanding work in nurturing young volleyball talent.

Founded with the objective of teaching the sport to the next generation, the founder, Hugh Mangeya said the academy has made tremendous strides in a short period.

“Since its establishment last year, Pathfinder Volleyball Academy has been actively participating in various tournaments, we are facing off against diverse teams and showcasing our skills,” said Mangeya.

He added that as an academy their objective is to teach the young ones the sport.

“The academy’s mission is to cultivate a love for volleyball in young athletes and it has resonated well with the community, attracting a number of enthusiastic participants. With a focus on developing fundamental skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, Pathfinder Volleyball Academy is shaping the future of volleyball,” he said.

Mkoba parents are excited with this initiative, in an interview with The Midweek Watch, Susan Tsikira said they are happy to see their children excelling in the sporting discipline.

 “We are thrilled to see our young players grow and develop a passion for the sport. Our goal is to provide a platform for them to learn, grow, and succeed, both on and off the court,” said Tsikira.

Meanwhile, Vongai Nhemachena has called upon the business community to come on board and sponsor the development of the sport in the city of progress.

“As a parent I would like to invite well-wishers and the business community to help Pathfinders Volleyball Academy so that our children have a good foundation of the sport,” said Nhemachena.

On Saturday 01 June 2024 Pathfinders volleyball academy hosted a 2 on 2 open tournament for players under 23 years old.

Mangeya confirmed to the Midweek watch that 12 teams participated. Three of the teams (Vipers, Eagles, Sharks) had players aged 13 years.
