Mashava murder suspect nabbed in Mberengwa mine shaft

MASHAVA-Talent Chifa who was on the run following the death of Nkosilati Mubango over a catapult dispute has been arrested by police in Mberengwa following a tip off from the public.

The Midweek Watch can confirm that Chifa was arrested at Jumbo Mine in Mberengwa on the 29th of May and brought to ZRP Mashava where he is currently detained.

Masvingo Province ZRP Spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that on the 26th of May ZRP Mashava tracked the accused but failed to locate him at his place of residents.

Police received a tip off that the accused person was been spotted at Jumbo Mine in Mberengwa where he was gold panning.

Police drove to Mberengwa using an unregistered vehicle and they found him in a shaft and arrested him and now he is assisting with investigations.

Chifa and Mubango had earlier on engaged in an argument over an undisclosed matter at Chirimadondo Shopping Centre on May 15 and the deceased threw the accused’s catapult in the fire.

Chifa promised to revenge the act one day.

On May 18, Chifa approached Nkosilati who was drinking beer with colleagues at Homali Shop at Bossmine at around 1am and hit him hard on the head with the back of an axe and fell down unconscious.

Nkosilati was rushed to Masvingo Provincial Hospital by his relatives and immediately transferred to Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare for further treatment as his condition was serious.

On Africa Day, Nkosilati died.

As soon as the news of Nkosilati’s death spread, Chifa disappeared and was on the wanted list until his arrest.
