Mwenezi murder suspect on the run

MWENEZI-Mastered Chauke (22) of Rangani Village under Chief Chilonga in Chiredzi is wanted by police in connection with the murder of Austin Mangara (29) from Chifini Village in Chief Chitanga area.

Mangara died on the spot after being hit by a stone by the accused during a scuffle as they were drinking beer at Machipisa Tuckshop in Mwenezi on Christmas day at around 730pm.

Chauke had a misunderstanding with Mangara’s friend and he picked a stone to hit him but it missed him and hit the deceased on the chest.

Mangara died on the spot and Chauke sped off from the scene and is still at large.

Police took the body to Chiredzi Hospital for a postmortem.

Masvingo Province police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu said they are appealing to the public for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspect to approach the nearest police station.

“We urge members of the public to desist from resorting to violence to resolve differences, instead they should seek help from counselors or approach the police,” said Patinyu.
