Lessons from recent SADC elections!
” Transition in SADC countries can only happen if the liberation movements split votes. Democracy can never be achieved without the hand of the former liberation movements. ANC in South Africa was forced into coalition after defeat because former President of ANC Jacob Zuma contested and ate into his former party’s support base. Ian Khama did the same to Botswana ruling party. It seems SADC citizens have finally discovered the cure to the region’s political HIV and AIDS dictatorship disease. The prescription is simple รท
a) opposition appreciation of liberation movements role in fighting for independence
b) opposition political parties can’t dislodge the liberation movements without some big gurus of those movements turning against their former parties.
c) opposition political parties must embrace every effort by every citizen to bring change
d) opposition political parties must understand their competitor for power isn’t other opposition political parties but the ruling party.
e) opposition political parties must field candidates in those areas they are strongest and leave other opposition political parties to contest in areas they believe they are stronger.
f) SADC opposition political parties must strategize and be united to bring change in the region.
