Zanu PF has finally seen light…Vana veimbwa havasvinuri musi umwe!
In 2010 I was Masvingo COPAC Team 10 Co- Team leader with Hon Huruva (Zanu PF) and Robson Mashiri (MDC Green).
We travelled and worked so well as a team. Zanu PF team members were good to work with but would become very hostile whenever people at a particular meeting were against their party’s views.
The issue of Naming Provinces always touched Zanu PF’s violent nerve system. I remember in Masvingo Central at Muchemwa Zanu PF nearly caused disruption of a well attended meeting when people categorically stated that the present names were tribal and didn’t promote unity. This Zanu PF behavior became the norm whenever the issue of Naming Provinces was mentioned.
The people were drilled to parrot certain party positions without putting personal opinion, belief and thought. I am happy that Zanu PF has finally seen light. The MDC T position on provinces was naming them as Northern, Southern, Western etc. Masvingo, Bulawayo, Harare and Midlands were to remain like that as their names were not tribal.
After COPAC Outreach program I was seconded to Thematic Groups. I was co- team leader with Chris Mutsvangwa (Zanu PF) and Mr Moyo (MDC Green). Fortunately my Thematic Group was Executive Organs Of State namely Army, CIO, Police so we didn’t deal with provinces.
All Thematic Groups were stationed at HICC. The room next to ours housed those dealing with provinces….ohoo my God. There was near fight everyday. COPAC chairpersons Mangwana, Mwonzora and Mukosi were called often to cool the atmosphere in the room. ZanuPF didn’t want anything mentioned about renaming the provinces.
Zimbabweans must appreciate that Zanu PF has finally seen the light. It took Saul a strike of light to blindness to change to Paul. MDC First National Chairman Isaac Matongo used to say “Vana veimbwa havasvinuri musi umwe”.We must be happy that finally vamwe vana veimbwa vazosvinura after more than 10 years…..asi kusvinura kusvinura hako.
