Dube remanded in custody to 2025

GWERU-High court judge, Justice Munamato Mutevedzi has remanded Peter Dube in custody to January 20, 2025, for trial continuation.

Dube is charged with two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

His trial could not proceed after eyewitnesses Nyasha Nharingo and Kayla Tadiwa Nharingo absconded from the court proceedings during the third quarter high court circuit.

The duo have since been issued with arrest warrants.

According to the state case, Dube who was arrested at the Robert Mugabe Airport in Harare after being deported from Mozambique, shot and killed Shelton Chiduku and Gamuchirai Mudungwe.

Chiduku and Mudungwe were killed at Gweru’s Benson Flats on April 22, 2021.

After the double killing, Dube allegedly shot Nyasha in the cheek and neck, and also shot Nyaradzo Nharingo above the right ear before fleeing the scene.

The state alleges that Dube accused Chiduku of being in a romantic relationship with his wife, Nyasha, and Mudungwe of helping his wife find a boyfriend.

Dube, who feigned mental illness during court appearances, has denied committing the offenses.

Midlands Provincial Prosecutor Samuel Pedzisayi is representing the state in the case.
