Boxing fever hits the ancient city

MASVINGO CITY-Excitement is building up in Masvingo as the Zimbabwe Boxing Federation, in partnership with Masvingo City Council, will hold the highly anticipated “Night of Champions” boxing extravaganza on September 28.

This thrilling event serves as a crucial preparation platform for the upcoming International boxing Association (IBA) Youth World Championship and Africa Elite Men and Women Boxing Championship.

On Saturday, Mucheke Hall will transform into a battleground as top boxers from across Zimbabwe converge to showcase their skills.

Chairperson of MPCSDC Olivarth Guvuriro said, “the electrifying event promises an action-packed evening of intense competition, with participating clubs including, Zimbabwe National Army, Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, Air Force of Zimbabwe, Bulawayo, Harare, Mashonaland West, Mashonaland Central, Midlands, Matabeleland North, Mashonaland East, Great Zimbabwe University Masvingo and Matabeleland South.”

Gates open at 3pm and the non-stop action will continue into the night, to add to the excitement, live music interludes will keep the crowd entertained between bouts.

Admission prices are affordable, with ordinary tickets costing just $1 and VIP access available for $5.
