Masvingo – In response to concerns raised by residents and motorists, the Traffic Safety Council of Zimbabwe (TSCZ) has pledged to take corrective action at the Chivi-Mhandamabwe intersection, which has become a black spot.
TSCZ managing director, Munesushe Munodawafa, acknowledged the challenges posed by the intersection, particularly given the ongoing road construction.
While the road is currently trafficable, Munodawafa noted that certain aspects still require finalization, including the erection of road signs.
“We appeal to all road users, drivers, and pedestrians to exercise extreme care and caution on or while crossing this and other roads,” Munodawafa said.
To address the concerns, the TSCZ will engage the provincial road engineer and the Police to conduct a joint road awareness campaign. Following the assessment, necessary signage and other corrective actions will be taken to ensure road safety.
Munodawafa’s response comes after residents and motorists advocated for improved signage at the intersection, citing safety concerns. The TSCZ’s commitment to addressing the issue aims to prevent accidents and ensure safety for all road users.
Recently four people died on the spot after Nissan Note was dragged for 100m following a head on collision by a haulage truck at the intersection.
