Zimbabwe’s boxing hero, Charles Manyuchi, has signed a lucrative three-year contract with Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions of Zambia, marking a significant milestone in his professional come back career.

The deal promises an exciting lineup of four fights each year, setting the stage for Manyuchi to elevate his status in the boxing world.

Manyuchi (35) is set to face Libya’s Saad Fathi Saad (25), in his inaugural bout under this new agreement.

The match is scheduled to take place in Benghazi on October 25.

As part of the contract, Manyuchi will also receive three round-trip tickets to Libya, further enhancing his opportunities within the sport.

In preparation for the light heavyweight championship bout, Manyuchi has embarked on an intense weight loss journey.

“You will fail to recognize me for I have already shed 10 kilograms from my initial weight of 104 kilograms,” Manyuchi revealed, adding that he aims to lose an additional 15 kilograms to ensure he is in peak condition for the fight.

With a remarkable career spanning from 2009 to 2023, Manyuchi has an impressive record of 34 bouts, with 29 wins, 18 of which came by knockout, according to BoxRec.

In contrast, his upcoming opponent Saad has participated in only six bouts, boasting just one year of experience and three knockouts to his name.

“I’m preparing diligently for this fight,” Manyuchi said while drawing inspiration from the local street saying, “hapamihwe mihwe unochohwa chohwa,”

As Saad, who was born in Libya but now resides in Les Mureaux, Yvelines, France, prepares for the match, many are eager to see if he can push the seasoned Manyuchi to his limits.

With both fighters eager to prove themselves, this upcoming bout promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and determination in the boxing ring.

Manyuchi hung up his lethal gloves in 2023 and was on a farewell whirlwind tour of the country in preparation for his retirement, but made a surprise U-turn when Oriental came knocking with a irresistible lucrative deal.
