Zim excel at Africa ACE Taekwondo tourney

Zimbabwe has emerged as a force to be reckoned with in the world of Taekwondo, scooping an impressive 8 gold medals, 15 silver, and 13 bronze at the just-ended inaugural African Continental Event (ACE) Taekwondo Tournament in Randburg, South Africa.
The Zimbabwean team, squared up with 160 competitors, showcased their exceptional skills and determination in the prestigious event dedicated to the Han style of Taekwondo.
In the Leopards category, Zvipozvashe Makanga clinched gold medals in both sparring and patterns.
With Jordan Brown also claiming gold in sparring and silver in patterns, highlighting the depth of talent within the Zimbabwean team.
Other standout performances in the Leopards category included silver medals for Maluwa Ngwira, Peyton Semu, and Rufaro Guvi, who displayed remarkable prowess in both sparring and patterns.
Benjamin Kusotera and Siyabonga Moyo secured bronze medals for their patterns, while Danielle Chatendeuka and Leandri Scott won silver and bronze medals in sparring.
The Juniors category saw Denise Chatendeuka step onto the podium with a silver medal for both patterns and sparring, solidifying her position as a rising star in the sport.
In the Adults category, Fungai Gwata dominated the sparring event, securing a gold medal, and earning a silver medal in patterns.
Geraldine Chatendeuka claimed gold for patterns and silver for sparring, while Chishuvo Makanga took home a gold medal for sparring.
Nkosinomusa Sithole rounded out the adult team’s success with a bronze medal in patterns and a silver medal in sparring.
The competition was marked by an impressive display of skill, determination, and sportsmanship, showcasing the depth of talent within the Zimbabwean Taekwondo team.
