MASVINGO-The ruling Zanu PF party Masvingo Province has taken a giant step towards construction of its own multi purpose headquarters for the first time in history.

State Minister Ezra Chadzamira (left) chatting with Zanu PF Masvingo Province Chairman Rabson Mavhenyengwa at the soon to be constructed provincial HQ while construction committee chairman (extreme right) Ephraim Gwanongodza looks on.

The new state of the art provincial headquarters is located in Clovely area near the Roman Catholic Church Bishop’s House to the west of Masvingo City.

The facility sits on a 10 hectare piece of land acquired with the help of Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ezra Chadzamira.

Dr Paul Tungwarara, a special advisor to President Mnangagwa donated building materials worth thousands of dollars towards the construction of an office complex to be used as Masvingo provincial headquarters.

The donation was handed over by Minister Chadzamira who sourced the material on behalf of the province.

Speaking at the event, Chadzamira thanked Dr Tungwarara’s gesture as they no longer need to hire venues for the weekly meetings.

Zanu-PF Masvingo province is set to construct its new provincial offices and move from behind Chevron Hotel where they have been squatting for decades.

“Squatting is now a thing of the past. We want to thank Dr Tungwarara for this big gesture. Our province had no party offices and from today through this donation, I want to say squatting is no longer our friend.

“We have been relying on renting and hiring facilities from Great Zimbabwe University, Masvingo Poly Technical College and other learning institutions. When they shut their doors for us, we would label them as opposition members yet they also want to use their facilities for other scheduled purposes,” he said.

He said the construction of the party offices is one of the landmark and legacy by the provincial leadership led by Chairman Rabson Mavhenyengwa.

“The provincial leadership should leave a legacy. This development is an example of the provincial leadership’s achievements.

“We want to thank Dr Tungwarara for assisting us with the donation of these building materials.

“He is one of President Mnangagwa’s good friend and that is why we are saying President Mnangagwa should remain in power beyond 2030.

“We will continue with prayers so that he lives longer to accomplish his developmental desires. We support the national resolution number one from the last conference.

“He didn’t say he wants to remain in power beyond 2030 but we are persuading him and we will remind him that the voice of the people is the voice of God,” he said.

He said the office complex will have a conference room which will accommodate 10 000 people and offices for all provincial portfolio committees.

“We have heard from the provincial chairman that the whole complex will also have chalets, lodges, eateries for income generation. People will now come to us hiring our conference facility for weddings and church gatherings,” he said.

He said the facility will be similar to the one in the Midlands province at Winery.

“Dr Tungwarara said he will assist us throughout the whole project and we will only supply labour.  We are going to seek assistance from the Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA), Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) for labour and by December this facility will be completed,” said Minister Chadzamira.
