MASVINGO – Wallace Chirumiko aka Winky D will set Masvingo ablaze with other prominent artists lined up to perform at the third edition of Lake October Festival.
This year’s festival will be held in partnership with the Cancer Association of Zimbabwe(CAZ) and it is themed ‘A Destination Marketing and Promotion Festival with a purpose-Tourism for Cancer Awareness’.
Speaking to Tavita Natasha Mpala aka Black Pepper the Tourism Festival head of public relations said that this year’s festival is going to have a lot of activities starting with culinary wine tasting competition at Granez restaurant at Masvingo Sports Club followed by charity golf.
“This year’s festival is unique because we have partnered with CAZ and we have the duty to spread awareness of breast cancer to everyone who is going to attend the festival,” said Mpala.
“As always we have a lot of activities lined up starting with the culinary wine tasting competition at Granez restaurant and entrance is free followed by the Charity Golf tournament and we are inviting everyone from all corners of Zimbabwe to come and join us at these events”.
Mpala went on to say that the opening night of the music festival dubbed ‘Pink Friday Music Concert’ will be held on Friday 20 October at Caravan Park, Masvingo and it will be headlined by live performances from Zimbabwe’s top artistes like Wink D who will be the guest artiste, Selmor Mtukudzi, Felistas Winnie Chipendo aka Feli Nandi and Sharmaine Lizzie Waldman aka Dj Liz.
The following day (21 October) there will be a Great Zimbabwe Marathon followed by a Culture Day and Hippo Creek Resort, Tambai Lakeside Park and Kyleview Resort all on the shore of Lake Mutirikwi which will host a full day of activities that include tour of Great Zimbabwe Monuments, Lion encounter, game drives, fun shooting, quad biking, boat cruise, fishing, beach sports amongst others.
On the same day in the evening there will be live performances from Kelvin Kusikwenyu aka Killer T, Enock Munhenga aka Ex Q, Mukudzei Chitsama aka Holy Ten, and Ashton Nyahora aka Mbeu hosting a music festival dubbed ‘Zims Finest Music Concert’ at Caravan Park Masvingo.
“As this is our third edition our line up production and location are the core elements of the perfect music festival with music and celebrating our diverse culture infused with raising awareness about breast cancer as it is at the heart of our festival and people should expect a wide range of music infused with breast cancer awareness from our various vendors throughout the festival”, said Mpala.
