HARARE-Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission boss, Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo has been appointed Prosecutor-General with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Chief Secretary to the Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya said President Mnangagwa has appointed Justice Matanda-Moyo as the Prosecutor-General with immediate effect in terms of section 259(3) of the Constitution.
“His Excellency the President, has in terms of section 259(3) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe appointed Justice Loice Matanda-Moyo as the Prosecutor-General with immediate effect,” reads the statement.
“Justice Matand-Moyo has vast experience in the justice delivery system having served as a Magistrate, State Advisor in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, State Counsel (Criminal Division) of the Attorney-General prosecuting in the High and Supreme Courts,” further reads the statement.
She rose through the ranks and joined the Labour Court and High Court bench in 2009 and 2013 respectively.
Justice Matanda-Moyo’s predecessor, Nelson Mutsonziwa was serving as acting Prosecutor-General since 2022.
Justice Matanda-Moyo is the wife to the late Foreign Affairs Minister and International Trade, General Sibusiso Moyo who was the face of the 2017 coup the toppled long time dictator, Robert Mugabe.
