GWERU CITY- Beaulity Dube Mpofu (33) has been slapped with 120 days behind bars for pulling her husband’s genitals over a heated salary dispute which turned physical.
Mpofu was arraigned before a Gweru Magistrate charged with violating the Domestic Violence Act, to which she pleaded not innocent.
According to state, on the morning of Saturday 13 January 2024, the accused Patricia Mpofu of 371 Old Ascot was in the company of her husband Bwerinofa Dzinavashe (38) who is the complainant in the matter.
The two however, had a misunderstanding near Sandara Primary School after Dzinavashe failed to account for his monthly salary to Mpofu.
This did not go down well with Mpofu who began shouting and physically attacking her husband.
On the first instance Mpofu picked a stone and threw it towards the complainant, hitting him on the left hand, she picked another stone and hit him again in his back before pulling Dzinavashe’s genitals.
Dzivanashe reported the matter to the police leading to Mpofu’s arrest.
Dzinavashe told the court how his wife’s actions had embarrassed him within the community.
In her judgement, Magistrate Dube slapped Mpofu with a four months jail term but suspended it for 5 years.
