Veteran lawyer Canaan Dube now DPC board chair

HARARE-In another show of confidence to his corporate leadership capabilities prominent Harare based lawyer, Canaan Farirai Dube has been appointed the new board chairperson for the Deposit Protection Corporation (DPC) with effect from November 1 this year.

Dube takes over from Agmos Moyo who served the DPC as board chairman for eight years.

He hails from Chivi District in Chikwethle Village in ward 2 under Chief Madamombe.

“The DPC Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Canaan F. Dube as Chairman, effective 1 November 2024. His impressive academic credentials and ongoing PhD studies in Corporate Governance underscores his commitment to excellence. This appointment aligns with governance best practices, and the Board looks forward to his leadership,” reads the statement from DPC board.

Dube brings a wealth of corporate experience with a proven track record as he has been the board chairperson of blue chip beverages manufacturer Delta Corporation and currently he is the board chairperson of listed Hippo Valley Estates among many other organisations.

He is a senior partner in one of the first and arguably the biggest indigenous law firm in the country, Dube Manikai and Hwacha (DM&H).

Dube is also the board chairman of a family investment arm, Vazukuru Vekwa Mukungunugwa Foundation with over 1000 members and they also sent a congratulatory message.

This new appointment raises the VVMF flag even higher, and we couldn’t be prouder!,” read the statement from VVMF board secretary Dorothy Tambara.
