CHIREDZI- Masvingo Regional Magistrate Bishard Chineka has remanded in custody four notorious robbers who pounced on a South African bound Blue Circle bus and robbed passengers and crew of R62 070 and US$8 621.
Saul Dadirai (23), Ashton Siziva (26), Talent Mlauzi (20), and Pheneas Shumba (25), allegedly robbed passengers on 18 July along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway.
However, only R7 000 and US$500 was recovered when the gang was arrested.
Prosecutor Liberty Hove opposed bail for the gang as they were deemed a flight risk of no fixed aboard while one of the accused has a pending case at Beitbridge Court.
He said the accused’s release would pose a risk to the community and that they might reunite with their accomplice who are still at large and commit more crimes.
Hove told the court that the gang attempted to flee as details were arresting them.
They were remanded to August 5, and the case was transferred to Chiredzi Magistrate Court.
