Zvishavane-The Zvishavane Original Residents and Ratepayers Association has lodged a formal complaint with ZESA’s depot foreman, citing unfair and selective load shedding practices in the sprawling mining town.
In a letter signed by ZORRA chairperson Kamino Simango, the association alleges that certain residential areas, including Maten Dollars, Highlands, Lot 4, Lot 2, Makwasha, Kandodo, Maglass, Birthday, and Hillview, are experiencing excessive load shedding of up to 18-19 hours, while ZESA employees’ homes enjoy 24/7 electricity.
The association is calling for rotational load shedding in residential areas, with essential services like Zvishavane Hospital and water treatment works given priority and exempted from load shedding.
“We urge ZESA to resolve this issue amicably and ensure fair distribution of electricity,” said Simango.
The association has threatened to take further action if the issue is not addressed promptly.
ZESA public relations manager Prisca Utete referred this reporter the southern region general manager.
