CHIREDZI- Triangle FC aka Sugar Boys proved to be too sweet for the Students, Herentals FC as they eased from the murky waters of the relegation zone.

Sugar Boys dismissed the Students 4-2 at Gibbo Stadium yesterday to move to 10th position on Castle Lager Premeir Soccer League table.

Chatuluka Tawanda’s early goal in the 3rd minute and Munashe Bamara’s 6th-minute strike gave Triangle a strong start.

Despite injuries to key players like Bamara who was later substituted due to the injury Triangle maintained their lead in the first half.

A notable highlight was Innocent Benza’s continued passion for the game defying age-related expectations.

During the 2nd half Herental’s tactical double substitutions did not pay off as Triangle’s third goal from Zeka Aaron in the second half seemed to seal the win.

In the final stages Herentals scored two consolation goals from Gobvu Clemence and Dombo Erick however, Triangle responded with a fourth goal from Mudzimu Menford securing a 4-2 victory.

Herentals FC Coach Paul Benza said it was a difficult game and unfortunately it did not go their way, despite the loss they are  focused on moving forward and doing better in their upcoming 6 remaining matches and their goal is  to finish the season in the top 4.

“We are only fighting for 18 points from the 6 remaining  matches and there is no guarantee that we are going to fail to collect these points, our target is to finish the season in top 4” said Benza

Triangle FC coach Genesis Mangombe revealed that they were well prepared for this game and they are thrilled to have come out on top.

He added that they realized that they needed to maintain their focus and intensity throughout the match. He also praised the 12th player (supporters) for their support which encouraged them to do well.

“We were more prepared for this game and fortunately we won however we will try our best in the next games to maintain the momentum up to the last minute and not get carried away” said Mangombe.

Their next game is against red hot Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium after the international break.
