Grade 1 chocked to death by marula fruit

BIRCHENOUGH BRIDGE-In a heart rending incident that happened at Birchenough Bridge, a nine year old boy grade one pupil chocked himself to death after swallowing a marula tree fruit (pfura).

Acting Manicaland Province police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka told The Midweek Watch that on February 10 at around 4pm, Junior Chasiyiwa of Gadzai Village under Chief Chamutsa in Buhera met his fate while coming from Birchenough Bridge Primary School in the company of a friend.

The two passed through Matakada Kiosk and started harvesting marula fruits from a nearby tree, as they were eating Junior was chocked and his friend went on to inform one Farai Neshumba (50) who tried to perform some first aid on the boy but to avail.

Junior was taken to Birchenough Bridge Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

His body was taken to the Birchenough Hospital mortuary and investigations are in progress.
