GOKWE-Weird things never cease to happen.
Tinevimbo Nyika (23) of Kufazvinei Village under Chief Chireya in Gokwe North has left villagers in a shock when he allegedly brutally murdered his father and ripped open the stomach and hung the intestines in a tree.
Tinevimbo accused his father Aison Nyika (69) of witchcraft and struck him with a metal rod several times until he died.
In a movie style act he went on to pierce his father’s stomach, pulled some intestines out and hung them on a tree before he fled from the scene.
Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred on Saturday at around 7am.
Insp Mahoko said the misunderstanding ensued between the two while at their homestead.
He told The Midweek Watch that on the fateful day, Aison was enraged by witchcraft accusations and struck his son once on the left leg using a metal rod.
“A scuffle ensued resulting in Tinevimbo disarming his father and using the rod to assault his father several times until he died. Tinevimbo is alleged to have gone on to pierce his father’s stomach, pulled some intestines out and hung them on a tree near the scene and fled,” said Insp Mahoko.
He said the heinous crime was committed in the presence of Tinevimbo’s young brother aged 13 years and Tendai Nyika, aged 23 who then made a report to the Police leading to the arrest of the accused.
Insp Mahoko urged the public to take family disputes to their traditional leaders for assistance.
