GWERU—A 50-year-old security guard has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for repeatedly raping his biological daughter over four years, a Gweru court heard.
Simbarashe was convicted of rape and sexual abuse by regional magistrate Sibongile Marondedze after the girl aged 17, disclosed the assaults that began in 2021.
The court heard that Sithole, who is the complainant’s biological father, first assaulted her in 2021 after taking her from her mother’s home in Lalapanzi, to his workplace at a Primary School under the pretext that she would assist with household chores.
After she completed the chores, Simbarashe allegedly followed her into his room, locked the door and ordered her to remove her clothes before raping her.
The court heard that the abuse continued on numerous occasions until December 2025.
According to evidence presented in court, the complainant informed her mother about the abuse, but no action was taken.
The matter came to light in June after the complainant disclosed the abuse to relatives and later reported it to social welfare officials in Mvuma before a police report was made.
The complainant was medically examined and the findings were presented in court as evidence.
Marondedze sentenced Simbarashe to 15 years in prison after finding him guilty of repeatedly raping his daughter.
