Robbers spear Triangle farmer

A 38-year-old man from Triangle, Masvingo Province, lost his life after being stabbed with a spear by unknown assailants.

According to police, Edmore Mavesere was attacked on November 25, 2024, at around 2045 hours while irrigating his maize plants with a friend in Section 15, Triangle.

Masvingo Province Deputy Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Masauso Patinyu, said the friend witnessed four unknown adults stealing maize from nearby gardens, two of whom were armed with spears. When the friend alerted Mavesere and other residents, the thieves ran towards Mavesere, stabbing him in the chest with a spear before fleeing into the darkness.

Mavesere was rushed to Collin Saunders Hospital in Triangle, where he received treatment.

 Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries on December 9, 2024, and his body was taken to Chiredzi Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem.

Police are still searching for the perpetrators, and has appealed to the public for assistance and come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

Patinyu also warned members of the public that carrying or possessing dangerous weapons is an offense and those found with them are liable to prosecution.
