Msv Golf ventures into real estate to boost revenue

Masvingo – In a bid to raise funds for the maintenance of the golf course, the Masvingo Golf Club is set to develop residential flats within the course, according to the club’s president, Sternly Kondongwe.
Kondongwe made the announcement during the annual Masvingo Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund Golf Tournament which was held last Friday.
He revealed that the club is targeting July 2025 for the project’s completion. The garden flats are expected to generate revenue that will help maintain the golf course into a world class facility.
City of Masvingo Town Clerk, Eng Edward Mukaratirwa, expressed the council’s support for the project, emphasizing the club’s importance as the “face of the city.”
The mayor of Masvingo Aleck Tabe also seized the opportunity to call on business people to practice social responsibility and participate in charity fundraising activities.
“I want to call upon the business community that when we are doing charity fundraising they should all come on board and help the less privileged in the city as they derive their profits from the same community,” said Tabe.
The remarks were made during the prize-giving ceremony of the Mayor’s Christmas Cheer Fund golf tournament.
The tournament was sponsored by Byword Motors, Econet Wireless, Ecosure, Exor Holdings and Dairybord.
Prolific youthful golfer who has won many tournaments in and outside the country, Miriam Masiya easily won the tournament with 41 points beating seasoned players and for her efforts she received many prizes including golf playing equipment and bags.
Miriam is coached by her father Richard Masiya and was recently in Morocco where she represented the country well bringing home many accolades.
