River Valley gives scholarship to disabled girl

TONGOGARA – River Valley Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Smelly Dube, has pledged to pay school fees of a 10-year-old disabled girl as the company continues its commitment to empower the girl child.

In addition to the school fees, Princes Mawarire Mambuzi, a student at Mavedzenge Primary School, will also receive treatment from a specialist doctor.

Professor Dube made the announcement during the Heroes’ Day commemorations at the Tongogara Heroes’ Acre in Shurugwi District on Monday.

River Valley Group also donated an assortment of food hampers to more than 40 widows of former freedom fighters.

Additionally, the company allocated stands to war veterans in the Midlands province and hosted a luncheon in honor of their sacrifices made during the liberation struggle.

“It is our endeavor at River Valley Group to honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives for our independence. We are duty-bound to continue supporting our heroes and the families they left behind,” Dube said while addressing the crowd gathered at Tongogara Heroes’ Acre.

She emphasized that the veterans of the liberation struggle are the backbone of the nation, and the company recognizes their unwavering efforts towards a better Zimbabwe.

The company also provided catering services at the Shurugwi District Heroes’ Day commemorations, and a number of event attendees received cash and grocery items for their outstanding performance.
