Preps for Gutu West by election underway-Zanu PF

MASVINGO-Zanu PF has begun in earnest preparations for the Gutu West by election scheduled for November 11 this year.

The Gutu West Constituency election could not be held during the harmonised elections in August as one of the candidates, Mutonhori Mutonhori died in a suspicious car crash just after the nominations.

Zanu PF Masvingo provincial spokesperson, Pepukai Chiwewe confirmed that the matter was discussed during the party’s Provincial Coordinating Committee meeting held last Saturday at Masvingo Teachers College Hall.

The candidates nominations has been slated for October 10 at Masvingo Magistrate Court.

“As the ruling party we are very happy with the resounding victory of the recent general elections where we won 23 out of 25 seats in the province and we are now focusing and preparing for the imminent by-elections of Gutu West with John Paradza as our candidate and we are already campaigning for the elections,” said Chiwewe.

Chiwewe also said the party is preparing for the victory celebrations that are going to be done at a provincial level on a date to be announced after President Mnangagwa delivers the State of Nation Address (SONA).

He also said that as the province they are also preparing for the Zanu PF annual people’s conference which is going to be held this October with the venue and actual date to later advised.
