Popular Kwekwe firewood vendor killed in cold blood

Kwekwe- Popular firewood vendor, Nicodimus Choga (29) was found lying in a pool of blood along a gravel road in Mbizo, Kwekwe on 14 June at around 6pm.

Mbizo Police received the report from an anonymous caller and the body was found with multiple stab wounds all over.

Preliminary inquiries established that Choga was last seen at a nearby tuck-shop where he had an altercation with some men who were wearing black leather jackets.

Midlands Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko is appealing for information regarding the whereabouts of the suspects.

“We are appealing to members of the public with any information concerning the case to pass it to any police station.” he said.

In an unrelated incident, a 27-year-old woman was robbed of cash and property valued at US$930 and R1 100.

 The incident occurred on 15 June 2023 around 630am in Mkoba high density suburb of Gweru.

Allegations are that, the victim was coming from South Africa and boarded a grey Honda fit with only the driver on board at Zuva Service Station, along Lobengula Avenue, Gweru on her way home.

On reaching Takwirira Primary School in Mkoba 17, the driver stopped his car. He hit the victim with a stick and ordered her to surrender all her valuables while threatening to kill her.

 The suspect took a Samsung A3 cellphone, a Black Nokia cellphone, two bags containing clothes, groceries and money in cash – R1 100 and US$120-00.

After committing the offence, the driver ordered her to disembark before driving away.

“We are appealing to members of the public who might have information leading to the arrest of the suspect to visit any nearest police station,” said Mahoko.
