Police clears air on Bubi ‘accident’

National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi has told The Midweek Watch that information circulating on social media alleging that a kombi was involved in a fatal accident between Mwenezi and Bubi Business Centre is false.

“That is false, there is nothing like that that happened people are peddling falsehoods,” said Comm Nyathi.

Images of kombi and a haulage have been circulating on social media since midnight claiming that a kombi travelling from Chiredzi to Beitbridge had all its occupants killed in a head on collision.

“Tragic road accident on Masvingo-Beitbridge highway; A kombi travelling from Chiredzi to Beitbridge collided with a truck between Mwenezi and Bubi, resulting in the loss of all lives on board.

“More details to follow…,” read the message.

Comm Nyathi urged the public to desist from peddling falsehoods as they cause panic and anxiety to the general populace including those with travelling relatives in said area.
