ZVISHAVANE- The Premier Netball League (PNL) is set to host a cancer awareness through a netball festival, The Midweek Watch can reveal.

The netball fiesta will be held at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza on Saturday 21 October 2023.

PNL chairperson, Sarudzai Chapo confirmed the development to The Midweek Watch.

Chapo said the tournament will be open to all netball teams across the width and breadth of the country. Apart from netball, there will be other activities like cancer screening and Zumba dances.

The event is mainly aimed at raising cancer awareness during the month of October.

“October is a breast cancer month; hence we saw it noble to activate a massive awareness drive in this particular month,” she said.

“Statistics reveal that Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide especially if detected late. As a country, we are not spared from its effects hence the need to bring awareness greatly to athletes who may not have ample time to go for screening so that they know more about their statuses in time.

“October being a breast Cancer awareness month, we thought it fit to join the rest of the world in raising awareness of the condition which does not only affect women but men as well. As such, all-roads lead to Aquatic Complex,” she said.
