CHIREDZI- Chihambakwe Beer Hall in Triangle was a hive of activity on Saturday as hosted the Masvingo Province Chibuku Road to Fame competitions finals.
Afro-fusion outfit Panhimbe Crew came first taking home US$2 500 and a coveted spot to perform at the national finals to be held at the Glamis Arena on 9 November 2024.
Street Wise Band from Mashava secured second place earning US$1 500 and Mega Power Sungura Outfit from Gutu District claimed third spot walking away with US$1 000.
All participating groups received a consolidation prize of US$500.
The Delta Beverages-sponsored event organized by the Zimbabwe National Arts Council was themed “Bviravira, Tshay’iNgoma”.
Provincial NAC manager Hellen Mudefi emphasized the competition’s significance in providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talents and grow musically.
“These competitions provide a platform for the upcoming artists to get an opportunity to showcase their talents and increase their chances of being recognized by sponsors,” said Mudefi.
Panhimbe Crew director expressed heartfelt gratitude to sponsors and organizers for the rare opportunity to compete and receive substantial incentives that will elevate them in the music industry.
“We are grateful to our sponsors and organizers for this great opportunity to express our talents and also for providing a platform which will help us attract promoters at the ational competitions,”
The Chibuku Road to Fame competition has consistently provided a launch pad for Zimbabwean musical talent and this year’s provincial edition did not disappoint.
