MASVINGO-Businessman and ZANU-PF youth leader James Pande says his latest venture named BIGDEAL, his brand name, is aimed at offering professional VIP protection and event security services while creating opportunities for women in an industry traditionally dominated by men.
Unlike conventional security guard services, Pande said his company focuses mainly on providing trained bouncers and close protection personnel for events and VIP assignments.
According to Pande, the company currently operates with a network of more than 50 bouncers across the country including 10 from Masvingo Province.
Pande said his background in leadership and crowd management influenced his move into the security business.
“I have always been in the security space, even in the ZANU-PF Youth League as secretary for youth, so I understand the importance of bouncers when dealing with crowds,” he said.
He said inclusion remains one of the pillars of the business with women playing an important role in security operations.
“There is no revolution without women. It is important to balance and be inclusive in our society,” said Pande.
Pande believes effective protection goes beyond physical presence.
“Security is not only physical but mental. Sometimes women act without even speaking. Men usually tend to respect women more,” he said.
To maintain standards, Pande said the company prioritises professional training.
“We engage professionals with military or police backgrounds to train our personnel,” he said.
Pande further said operations are managed by Mike Zimbabwe, whom he described as having experience in high-profile assignments.
Mike Zimbabwe was part of the security team that escorted American rapper Rick Ross during his last visit to Zimbabwe.
Beyond VIP protection services, Pande said he is involved in mining sponsorships for small-scale miners, farming and manufacturing initiatives.
He added that he also facilitates investment opportunities by connecting investors from different parts of the world.
Looking ahead, Pande said he plans to expand into youth empowerment through the establishment of BIGDEAL Academy and Football Club.
Encouraging women to join the industry, Pande said opportunities in security should remain open to everyone.
“The sky is not even the limit. Every man is born of a woman, so they must not hesitate to grab any opportunity that arises in the security industry,” he said.
As demand for professional event and VIP protection services continues to grow, Pande said his long-term vision is to build a trusted brand that not only delivers quality protection services but also creates opportunities for women, empowers young people and contributes to economic development.
