Tongogara – A fatal road traffic accident has resulted in the death of one person and left three others nursing injuries, police has confirmed.

Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, Midlands Province police spokesperson confirmed the incident, which occurred on November 11, 2024, around 11:30 a.m. along the Chachacha-Tngogara Road.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Innocent Muchairi (37), from Chegutu, was driving a Nissan MV350 motor vehicle with three passengers when the accident happened.
“Upon approaching the 26 km peg, due to suspected excessive speed, the motor vehicle veered off the road and overturned three times,” Mahoko said.
The accident claimed the front-seat passenger who sustained head injuries and died on the spot.
The other three passengers were taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable conditions.
Mahoko urged motorists to observe the rules of the road and avoid speeding.
“We kindly urge motorists to observe the rules of the road and to avoid speeding,” he said.
