BEITBRIDGE-In a significant development for the busiest inland port of entry in the region, Beitbridge Town, the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has set up a campus to cater for Matabeleland South Province.
The campus will offer short professional courses starting in August, following evaluations from the Beitbridge Business Expo survey.
According to NUST communications and marketing director, Thabani Mpofu, the new campus will introduce the Faculty of Agricultural Science and Technology, focusing on producing innovative agricultural technologists.
“As NUST, we are establishing a new campus in Beitbridge, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs, as well as short professional courses,” Mpofu stated.
He added that the university will not wait for the campus construction to be completed before starting offering programs, instead, they will offer courses in various locations while building the campus.
“We will start with short professional courses next month and aim to begin degree programs in March 2025,” Mpofu explained.
The vision has received support from Beitbridge West legislator, Thusani Ndou and the Municipality of Beitbridge, which offered the university land to establish the campus in June this year.
The new campus is expected to bring innovative agricultural science programs to the region, aligning with NUST’s mission to advance science and technology.
