MILLICENT HUNGWE
Masvingo City Chief Environmental Health Services, Suzanne Hazel Madamombe has allayed fears of bed bugs in the ancient city.

Madamombe said the city is free from bed bugs and residents should not panic as the few cases detected in 2024 were fumigated and gotten rid of.
Madamombe said this during a press conference at City Hall which was being addressed by Mayor Cllr Aleck Tabe.
“However, this year Masvingo City is well prepared, with clean environs, clean regular running water as bed bugs are associated with a dirty environment.” said Madamombe in response to a question on the state of preparedness for bed bugs which recently invaded Kwekwe City.
She added that the water supply situation in the city has greatly improved following the commissioning of the Mutirikwi Hydro Power Plant; the Bushmead Water Works Plant has been having uninterrupted electricity supply, therefore treatment and pumping of water to the reservoirs has been consistent.
“On average, 23 Megalitres per day is being supplied to the City, and all properties are receiving water for an average of 9 hours daily.”
