TOPIC: LITLLE PEOPLE BELITTLE PEOPLE…
There is a saying that “great people make others feel greater, but little people make others feel small.”
It is often the insecure, the envious, the wounded souls who try to diminish others to feel insignificant. But true strength lies not in belittling others but in lifting them up.
Have you ever noticed that those who constantly humiliate and belittle others often do so from a place of insecurity? A truly confident person does not feel the need to put others down.
“Strong people don’t put others down… they lift them up,” as Michael P. Watson once said.
In contrast, little people, those who lack inner strength, wisdom, and humility, seek to make others feel inferior because that is the only way they can feel superior.
But what does that say about them? It says they are weak. It says they are afraid. It says they lack self-worth and must trample on others to feel tall.
But remember this: “The tallest buildings are never built by tearing others down, but by laying strong foundations.”
Some people take pleasure in mocking others, pointing out their flaws, and making them feel insignificant. Yet, Christ Himself warned us against this attitude. In Matthew 5:22, He says: “But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court.”
The Bible teaches us that our words have power. They can break a spirit, or they can build one. They can destroy confidence, or they can inspire greatness. Little people use their words like daggers, but great people use their words like bridges, to connect, to strengthen, and to uplift. Many people have lost their confidence, their dreams, and even their will to fight because of a cruel word spoken against them.
Some never recover from the wounds inflicted by humiliation. You may forget the words you spoke, but they may never forget how those words made them feel. The saddest part? The one who belittles others often ends up alone, despised, and forgotten.
As the book of Proverbs warns: “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, and a stone will come back on him who starts it rolling” (Proverbs 26:27). Greatness is not found in how many people kneel before you; it is found in how many people stand taller because of you.
Let us choose to build. Let us choose to uplift. Let us choose to inspire. Because at the end of our lives, we will not be remembered for how we made people feel small, but for how we made them feel significant. May we never be little people who belittle others. Instead, may we be great souls who make others greater.
