Mvuma -A man was killed in a hit and run accident after being struck by a car while walking along the left side of the road in Mvuma Town.

The incident occurred at Moffat business centre, Mvuma which is located at the 186 km peg along Harare-Masvingo Highway at around 8pm on July 2, 2023.

However, the vehicle that killed the pedestrian did not stop and is not yet known.

Police attended the scene and the deceased was identified as Tatenda Tubu( 29) of Central Estates, Mvuma.

Meanwhile, in another related case two pedestrians escaped with serious injuries when they were hit by a car while walking on the roadside of Mbizo Road in Kwekwe.

The incident occurred on July 3, 2023 at around 530pm. An unknown motorist was driving a blue Nissan Blue Bird registration ADQ 6273 due west.

It is alleged that upon reaching Mbizo 4 Shopping Centre the driver hit Prince Getrude Mahaso, a woman (29) and she fell down.

The motorist did not stop and again hit Liona Phiri (19) another pedestrian, soon after, before it veered off the road and landed in a ditch.

The driver disembarked from the motor vehicle and ran away from the scene after the accident.

Police attended the scene and the two victims were referred to Kwekwe General Hospital where they were admitted.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko  is appealing to pedestrians to maintain high level of alertness on the roads.
