ZAKA-Prominent Masvingo business mogul Philemon Mutangiri has brought smiles to Chipinda Primary School pupils and the surrounding community by gifting them with a state of the art $5 000 solar powered borehole.
Mutangiri told The Midweek Watch that he was doing this as part of social corporate responsibility to the community and in particular for the future of the children who need a fare learning environment despite being in the rural areas.
Mutangiri donated a state of the art solar-powered borehole to Chipinda Primary School where he addressed water challenges faced by the school and surrounding villages.
Chipinda Primary School Head Chomunorwa Mangeya applauded Mutangiri’s kind gesture which addressed water blues for the learning institution.
“As a school, we have been facing a serious water challenge especially when our borehole broke down. We were forced to draw water from unprotected water sources risking to contract water-borne diseases.
“We have started engaging in gardening at the school, we have started growing a number of vegetables including tomatoes. We want to thank Mr Mutangiri for this development which is a huge milestone to the school and the local community,” he said.
Drilled and installed by Mutangiri, the borehole is made up of a submersible pump which is powered by solar panels that produce 24 volts of electrical energy.
The pump takes less than 20 minutes to fill up a 5 000-litre water storage tank situated a few metres from the borehole, while a tap installed closer-by is also fed by the pump.
Mutangiri said it is in his DNA to give back to the community. He said he is aims to provide access to clean water to surrounding communities.
The businessman also offers borehole drilling and siting at affordable fees and at no deposit.
