REDCLIFF-The Municipality of Redcliff has issued a 30 -day ultimatum to stand beneficiaries to either pay outstanding balances or start developing their stands.

The ultimatum was issued to about 1 200 beneficiaries of residential stands in the mining town.
The development affects a wide range of beneficiaries in Rutendo Extension’s medium, low and high density residential areas.
Redcliff Public Relations Officer Michael Magoronga confirmed the development.

“I can confirm that the local authority has given a 30 -day notice to beneficiaries to develop their stands from March 20. Those who fail to either pay or develop their stands will risk losing their properties.
“About 1 200 stands are earmarked for repossession if the beneficiaries fail to act within the stipulated time frame,” he said.
He said some of the beneficiaries only paid $45 in 2019.
“About 1 500 applicants are on our waiting list. Council seeks to address this pressing challenge by taking back undeveloped stands allocating them to those with the potential,” he said.
He encouraged beneficiaries with outstanding balances to approach the local authority to settle their dues before their stands are repossessed.
