Murwirwa launches multi sport academy to fight vice in youths

Albert Murwira who vice president of Unite World Kyo Kushin Organisation Karate has launched a multi sporting discipline academy at Chipinda Primary School in Zaka called Active Fusion Sport Academy last Saturday.
Chipinda is in Mutsvare Village under Chief Nhema in Zaka.
Murwira who is also a committee member of Zimbabwe Aerobics Fitness Association launched the academy at a colourful ceremony marked with a number of friendly matches involving Chida, Safeway and Danda academies.
The academy is meant to keep the youth from engaging in drugs and substance abuse as well as nurturing talent which is in abundance in the rural areas.
Ward 1 councilor Svinurai Dawn Chivore expressed gratitude for Active Fusion’s initiative, citing its potential to empower youth, reduce drug abuse cases, and nurture talent.
The academy’s soccer coach, Livison Manyiwa, an ex-military personnel helps in maintaining discipline and peace.
“As we begin our journey as a multi-sport academy, our goal is to promote sports development in Zimbabwe, identify and develop talent, and eradicate undesirable behaviors among youth through sports participation,” Murwira stated.
Claudios Kujinga, ward development coordinator in the Ministry of Youth Development, Empowerment and Vocational Training, thanked Active Fusion, noting that Chipinda area in Zaka has seen a high number of murder cases largely due to idleness of youth.
“This initiative will keep youths occupied with sports, reducing crime rates,” Kujinga said.
From the four academies which participated in the soccer tournament, Safeway emerged victorious with 8 points.
The academy has a registered board with a written constitution, Provincial Coordinator of Zimbabwe National Boxing and Wrestling Control Board Kudakwashe Tapera urged players to adhere to it, emphasizing the ministry of sport’s support.
Guest of honour, Alfred Tasara from Sports and Recreation Commission standing in for SRC Provincial Coordinator Mayibongwe Sibanda, encouraged youths to focus on such activities to fight indiscipline.
“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop,” he said.
This initiative promises to positively impact Chipinda’s youth, fostering a culture of discipline, hard work, and sportsmanship.
