MASVINGO – President Mnangagwa who has for the third been forced to announce that he will not seek a third term in office as is being pushed for by some of his ‘die hard supporters’ is set to hold a star rally in Masvingo on September 15.

The Midweek Watch has been reliably informed that the star rally has officially been named Munhumutapa Day.

Masvingo Province Zanu PF chairperson, Zaka MP Robson Mavhenyengwa, confirmed the event and invited everyone, especially youths, to attend.

He emphasized the importance of youth participation in politics, stating, “We are getting old, and we need more youths to take over when we are gone.”

Mavhenyengwa highlighted the significance of the rally, saying, “This day is important to us, as we have the honor of spending time with our President discussing critical issues pertaining to the development of our country.

“As the MC for Zanu PF and MC for the SADC Chairman, I would like to say that we are happy to spend the whole day with His Excellency, listening to the wishes of the youths and everyone else shows that he has everyone’s interests at heart,” said Presidential MC David Masomere.

Meanwhile, war veterans from Masvingo Province have vowed to stop President Mnangagwa who has just assumed the rotating SADC chairmanship from going beyond his two term constitutional limit.

On the other hand, Mavhenyengwa has denied that President Mnangagwa is seeking a third term in office, saying rather its the supporters who are calling upon him to stay on.

“The President is a constitutionalist and has never said he wanted a third term, it is us who are begging him to continue at the helm,” said Mavhenyengwa.
