MMCZ deputy GM, Goronga is no more

HARARE-MINERALS MARKETING Corporation of Zimbabwe deputy general manager finance and administration Tapiwa Goronga has died.

MMCZ confirmed the death of Goronga in a condolence message posted on their website.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Tapiwa Goronga, Deputy General Manager, Finance and Administration at the Minerals Marketing Corporation of Zimbabwe (MMCZ).

“Mr. Goronga succumbed to a long battle with stomach cancer on Monday, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service to the nation,” reads part of the message.

Goronga had been bravely fighting stomach cancer since November 2023, and despite his valiant efforts, the disease progressed to stage 4 by March 10, his untimely passing has sent shockwaves throughout the mining community and beyond.

During his illustrious career, Goronga served as Deputy General Manager, Finance and Administration at MMCZ from 2017 to November 2024. His expertise and leadership played a significant role in shaping the corporation’s financial and administrative landscape.

Goronga’s contributions to the mining sector will be deeply missed. His family, colleagues, and friends remember him as a devoted and compassionate individual who always put the needs of others before his own.

The funeral service for Goronga will be held today (13/3/25) at Madede homestead in Buhera, where he will be laid to rest.
