GWERU – Speaking at the inaugural Women’s Ministries Congress of the Zimbabwe Central Union Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, the Provincial Affairs Minister for Midlands Province, Owen Ncube, called on the church to complement the government’s efforts toward achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
In his keynote address, Ncube commended the SDA Church for its extensive network of educational and health facilities across the country, urging other denominations to follow suit.
He highlighted the government’s various development initiatives under the “Second Republic,” led by President Mnangagwa, including rural industrialization, irrigation schemes, and social safety nets.
“The Second Republic’s modernization and industrialization strategy has created job opportunities, provided infrastructure, and raised the living standards of communities with several schools, clinics, hospitals, roads, dams, power stations, irrigation schemes, boreholes, village business units, and social safety nets,” said Minister Ncube.
The Minister praised the SDA Church for its community empowerment initiatives, such as humanitarian assistance and infrastructure development.
He encouraged the church to continue praying for the nation’s leadership and prosperity, in line with biblical teachings.
“I further urge the Church to continue praying for our leadership and for the prosperity of our nation as we march towards the attainment of Vision 2030,” Ncube said, citing scriptures from the books of Timothy and Romans.
The inaugural Women’s Ministries Congress, held under the theme “Saved to Serve,” aimed to provide women of all ages with inspirational messages, shared life experiences, and spiritual guidance.
