2 sides of you: Uncovering the real you
By Prof. F. Kasese
Today, I want to talk to you about a profound distinction that can change the way you live your life.
It is a distinction that can help you discover your true identity, your purpose, and your passion. The distinction I am talking about is the difference between “you” and “yourself”.
On the surface, it may seem like a subtle difference, but trust me, it is a distinction that can have a profound impact on your life.
“You” is what people see. It is the external you, the persona you present to the world. It is the mask you wear, the image you project, and the reputation you have built. “You” is what others perceive, what they think of you, and how they respond to you.
But “yourself” is different. “Yourself” is the real you, the inner you, the authentic you. It is the you that only you know, the you that you may not even acknowledge to yourself. “Yourself” is the sum total of your thoughts, feelings, desires, and intentions. It is the you that is invisible to the world, but visible to yourself.
The problem is that many of us spend our lives trying to perfect the external “you”, while neglecting the internal “yourself”. We focus on building a reputation, achieving success, and gaining recognition, while ignoring our true desires, passions, and values.
But here is the thing: the external “you” is not the real you. It is a projection, a facade, a mask. The real you is the internal “yourself”, the you that only you know.
So, I want to ask you today: who are you, really? Are you the external “you” that others see, or are you the internal “yourself” that only you know?
If you are living a life that is not authentic to who you are, it is time to make a change. It is time to focus on the internal “yourself”, to listen to your heart, to follow your passion, and to pursue your purpose.
Remember, the external “you” may get the recognition, but the internal “yourself” is what truly matters. So, let us focus on building a life that is authentic, meaningful, and true to who we are.
Let us discover the real “yourself” and live a life that is truly yours. HCC
