“Minister of Local Government Mr Garwe is a very cruel, uncultured and political novice.
He has no human face. If President Mnangagwa’s heartless cabinet had passed a resolution to remove vendors he as Minister must have found a better implementation strategy. An ultimatum of less than 20 hours is only from an oppressive government like during the colonial Rhodesian white government.
Garwe should have ordered police and city council to move around the streets warning people of the impending move.
The police know the rule of firing warning shots before aiming the target. The same strategy should have been used for vendors. When you see vendors resisting and fighting the municipal police it is because of the way how this whole operation was implemented.
The vendors would not have resisted and fought the police if this operation was handled like the SADC summit vendor clearance from the streets. Minister Garwe has shown that he has no time to plan for ministerial duties except to sing “2030 Anenge aripo!”
