LOWER GWERU-A teacher at Insukamini secondary school in lower Gweru, Blessed Sithole (34) (pictured) has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after he allegedly drove towards three people along the Maboleni gravel road with the intention to run them over.

Blessed Sithole.

According to the police report, Sizalobuhle Nyoni ( 31), Simangaliso Dube (40) and Mbalehle Ncube (34) were walking home from the Maboleni Business Centre when the incident occurred on March 15, 2025, at around 7PM.

As the group was walking, Sithole allegedly drove his Isuzu KD20 vehicle towards them.

The three then moved off the road to allow the accused to pass, but instead of continuing on, Sithole is alleged to have accelerated his vehicle driving directly towards them.

Nyoni reportedly ran away, while Ncube ran back into the road.

The accused is alleged to have halted his vehicle, engaged the reverse gear, and drove towards the fleeing Nyoni and Dube, apparently intending to run them over.

When the accused realized that Nyoni and Dube were no longer within reach, he is said to have driven towards Ncube, who jumped into a ditch and picked up half-bricks to protect himself.

The accused then reportedly drove away, leaving the three behind, said the police report.

Sithole has been charged with attempted murder, as defined in Section 189 read with Section 47(1) of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23.

The police alleges that the accused’s actions were unlawful.
