CHIKOMBA–Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Felix Mhona who is also the MP for Chikomba Central, said he is unfazed by the possibility of his constituency being merged with Chikomba East.

Mhona told The Midweek Watch that he will focus on rallying his supporters for the forthcoming Zanu PF primary elections and is not worried about the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s report which leaves Chikomba with only two constituencies, East and West.

Mhona was speaking on Sunday this week at Mutekedza Business Center where he donated goodies and startup capital to ward 22 and 23, in his constituency after having previously handed out same donations to eight other wards recently.

Chikomba Central is amongst constituencies abolished in ZEC’s preliminary delimitation report which is before the President pending final resolution. Mhona donated 75 Buffalo bicycles to village heads in his constituency and a motor bike each to Headman Mutandatsama born Samuel Muvhuti and Headman Kwenda to help them in carrying out their duties.

The youths were given 60 female goats for a pass on project while women were given US$3000 as capital for Internal Savings and Lending Coorperative and 5000 broiler chicks and feed as a way of making them self-sufficient.

Speaking during the handover, Mhona insisted that he is not doing the donations because people cannot do it on their own but to have a chance to meet and share ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. He also insisted he will accept any outcome on the ZEC delimitation proposal.

“I am not doing this because you cannot do it on yourself but to have a chance for us to gather and have good time together. I hope that these projects will empower many in the constituency and more projects will continue coming.

“On the delimitation issue, I am not worried I will accept whatever the outcome and move forward,” said Mhona.

Speaking after receiving the motorbike, Headman Mutandatsama born Samuel Muvhuti expressed his gratitude to the Minister for coming up with something they have never imagined or dreamt about.

“We are happy because this thing has never happened before. This will help me travel around my area of jurisdiction as well as attending other meeting for instance in Chivhu. Now that village heads have also got their bicycles, we can easily visit each other, I am really grateful to Minister Mhona,” said Headman Mutandatsama.

Village head Tongogara also expressed gratitude to Mhona and said the bicycles will help all other village heads to execute their duties easily.

“The bicycles will help all of us to execute our duties as it will allow us to travel around our respective villages. We used to have transport challenges, especially in the event where one wants to travel to the headman and now it’s easier,” said Tongogara.

Ward 23 Councilor Tinashe Brilliant Manyewe expressed gratitude to Minister Mhona for coming up with such development in the constituency.
