MUTARE CITY-The Mountaineers cricket team in Manicaland received a sponsorship package of brand new jerseys from Mega Market, a leading repackaging company in Mutare.
The package includes a set of brand new jerseys for the team, which will be worn during their upcoming matches.
The handover ceremony took place at the ceremonial home of cricket, Mutare Sports Club, where Megamarket’s Finance manager MacDonald Mabambe presented the jerseys to the team.
“Today we are unveiling a shared vision, we recognize that our role extends beyond business. It includes being active contributors to the communities we serve. Through our partnership with Mountaineers, we aim to nurture a generation of cricketers and encouraging engagement in sports.
“By investing in sports we are investing in values, discipline, respect and perseverance. These qualities shape both players and citizens. As we kick off this season, let’s unite in our support to Mountaineers. We are proud to be associated with the Mountaineers cricket team and wish them all the best in their future endeavors,” said Mabambe.
Mountaineers cricket team is looking forward to a successful season, and the sponsorship package has given them a boost of confidence and motivation.
Asked whether there are new players to expect, team captain Nick Welsh reiterated that there were a lot of new faces and the team is very much prepared for the challenge.
“We are looking at harvesting all the trophies in the season. I think we have the team and the depth for that, there are a lot of talented boys around. There is a lot of competition amongst ourselves which will drive us.
“If you have a look at the team during training, this is the most prepared team I have seen in the years I have played cricket. Everyone looks fit, strong and healthy. I think we are all ready although I wouldn’t point out that this one person would be instrumental in the team because everyone knows their role, added Welsh.
Mega market’s sponsorship is a significant investment in the development of cricket in Zimbabwe, and the Mountaineers are grateful for their support. The team is eager to make their sponsors proud and bring home some silverware this season, added the captain.
With their new jersey and renewed spirit, Mountaineers are ready to take on the challenge and make their mark on the cricket field.
