MASVINGO CITY- A man was allegedly murdered at Mucheke Rank last night, The Midweek Watch can reveal.
Owen Mabure (38) of Zimuto Street ‘KumaR’ was found dead with three knife wounds on his chest after having an argument with one Vavarirai Mapingure (26) from 127 Victoria Range, Masvingo City.
Masvingo Province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said that the suspect was nabbed and detained at Chikato police base.
The circumstances are that on June 14 at around 1030pm, the suspect and the deceased were drinking beer together at Mummy’s Kitchen Tavern at Mucheke Business Centre when an unknown misunderstanding arose between them.
The two started a fist fight upon which Mabure was overpowered.
Mapingure then dragged Mabure to a nearby tarred road where he retrieved a sharp object out of his pocket and stabbed the deceased three times on the chest.
The accused immediately left the scene.
In the early hours of June 15 police at Chikato recieved a report of a lifeless body lying in pool of blood near Mummy’s Kitchen.
They inspected the body and found three deep wounds and the body was taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital while the suspect was arrested at around 6am.
According to other sources the man was stabbed by other patrons last night over a bottle of illicit spirit drink popularly known as chikozodo.
