MASVINGO-Serial thief and murderer Tafadzwa Soda Kanengoni (39) has been slapped with a 22-year jail term for five counts of robberies despite his antics of faking madness as he awaits for murder trial at High Court

Kanengoni of Mucheke D, Tembwe Street was arrested earlier this year in January following a cold blood murder of a tuck shop owner Michael Munhungowarwa (41) using a stolen pistol in December last year.

Kanengoni was arrested by the CID in Zvishavane while cohabiting with a prostitute.

In passing the judgement, the Magistrate took into account other counts of robberies he was wanted for. The judgement was handed down in his absence due to his charades of faking mental illness once he got into the courtroom.

Innocent Mudzanirwa stood in for the State.

Kanengoni, who would be brought to the courtroom in chains would start to mumble; “give me bricks and nails I want to rebuild this place, all those openings I want to close them”.

The sneaky alleged murderer was brought in the courtroom twice and kept doing the same thing prompting a ruling in absentia from the Magistrate because of his deliberate disturbance of court proceedings.

However, dates for his murder trial to be heard at the Hugh Court  have not been made public.
