Gweru — A Lower Gweru man has appeared before the Gweru Magistrates’ Court facing rape allegations involving his 15-year-old cousin.
Future Bongani Maseko, 26, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the minor at his home earlier this month.
The court heard that the complainant had gone to Maseko’s residence on August 2 to have her hair cut when the alleged incident occurred.
According to the allegations before the court, Maseko forcibly removed the minor’s clothing and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
Maseko has denied the allegations. In his defence, he reportedly told the court that the sexual encounter was consensual and that the complainant had initiated it.
The minor was subsequently examined at Gweru Provincial Hospital as part of the investigations into the allegations.
